Three people in the Piplani police station area of Bhopal district have died and two are fighting for their lives in hospital after five family members tried to kill themselves because of their plight financial, which had made repayment of loans difficult.
The indebted mechanic Sanjiv Joshi (47 years old), his mother Nandani (67 years old), his wife Archana (45 years old) the daughters Grishma (21 years old) and Poorvi (16 years old) had consumed poisoned cold drinks Thursday evening while they were live on video with friends through Whatsapp, he said.
“While Nandani and Poorvi died on Friday, Grishma died in hospital on Saturday morning, bringing the toll of the incident to three. Sanjiv and Archana continue to be under treatment,” the head of the police station said. Piplani, Ajay Nair.
“During the initial investigation, it was revealed that one of the victims borrowed a sum of Rs a lakh from two women named Pinki and Babli for some work related to a store run by her father. The amount to be repaid was Rs three. lakh after adding interest to it. The family had not yet paid a large part of this account. Fed up with such circumstances, the whole family decided to kill themselves, ”said Rakesh Shrivastava, Chief Superintendent of Police, Govindpura.
“The family also killed two of their dogs and a mouse by poisoning them,” he added. According to the information shared, the family had a fight with their lenders on November 11. Even two days ago, their lenders came to threaten the whole family. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
